How Employees Can Work Securely From Home
The COVID-19 outbreak lot of people is working from home for the first time. These working in environments you’re not used to, so many of them finding it difficult to stay as productive as they were before and technologies & networks you’re not familiar with, exposing yourself to greater cyber threats.
Usually, companies and organizations don’t allow accessing this database from home due to security and privacy reasons. COVID-19, many companies have shifted their workforce to working remotely.
Some Security Tips for WFH employees to reduce the risk of malware and cyber-attacks:
- Do not connect to a Public Network more vulnerable to cyber-attacks because everyone on the network is able to access the information.
- Follow any policies/procedures of your company has regarding what you can and cannot access from home.
- Use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) so, you can securely connect into the company network.
- SaaS-based service providers are entirely responsible for the server maintenance, security and also data protection.
- Avoid unauthorized software and hardware.
- For exchanging information Use office emails, don’t try on personal emails.
- Laptop or desktop ensure you have a regular update on antivirus and software firewall running.
- Make sure your home router enable WPA2 or WPA3 encryption.
- Make sure that you use devices only approved by your organization. Avoid using personal computers, laptops, mobile phones, etc. for official purposes.
- Ensure you have a password for your Wi-Fi setup and that people are not able to access without your permission.
- Make sure you don’t leave your laptop or device unattended while you are operating remotely or from some other location. Often lock your device, before you move away from it.
- Don’t share personal information in messages or social media.
