Windows 10 PCs Down Around the World – CrowdStrike?
Introduction
A sudden failure in the anti-virus used by the famous software company Microsoft has paralyzed various computer-related services around the world, from air travel to the stock market.
Windows 10 PCs around the world are suffering from blue screen issue called BSOD due to new CrowdStrike update.
CrowdStrike
Microsoft has more than 120 million customers worldwide. The company’s Windows software is used in many places.
People who updated their 3rd party anti-virus called CrowdStrike in it suddenly turned blue. CrowdStrike was not fully updated and crashed due to a BSOD technical error known as Blue Screen of Death. Due to this computer-related departments were paralyzed. Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Azure were out of business, leaving companies that use them out of business.
Microsoft cloud services
Airlines, hospitals, banks, media, etc., which are using Microsoft cloud services, also faced problems. America’s 911 emergency services are down. Services on the London Stock Exchange are said to have taken a heavy hit.
More than 1000 flights were canceled worldwide. In India, more than 200 flight services of companies including Air India, IndiGo, Vistara, SpiceJet and Agasa Air were affected. Handwritten boarding passes were issued as computers were not working at places like Chennai, Trichy and Coimbatore. As a result, passengers were forced to stand in long queues. Passengers suffered a lot as some flight services were cancelled. Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu urged the airlines to provide facilities including food to the affected passengers.
The stock market was also hit hard as leading companies of the country were paralyzed due to technical glitches. While investors were already reeling from Friday’s stock market slump, the BSOD problem became an added burden.
Many brokerage firms like Angel One, 5paisa, IIFL Securities, Nuama, etc. were affected by the technical glitch. At the same time, companies that do not use the CrowdStrike technology framework are not affected.
Messages from Microsoft and Crowd Strike
In this case, Honorary Director of Microsoft, said that no one’s data has been stolen due to the Microsoft bug, and there is no need for anyone to be afraid. In an exclusive interview he explained that only users of CrowdStrike anti-virus were affected.
Crowd Strike, the affected company, has also clarified that the Microsoft technical glitch is not a cyber-attack. CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz said that only Windows was affected, and Mac and Linux-based systems were not affected.
Also, Microsoft has informed me that the work to solve the problem is going on and the situation will gradually return to normal.
